“Those pants are too baggy….. Why can’t you wear skinny jeans” – An eighth grade classmate told me.

I guess that’s where my insecurities started. I was never fat…. or overweight by any means… but I wasn’t as “skinny” as the other girls in school. I always thought that was the reason they didn’t want to be friends with me.

My freshman year of high school, that all changed. I started playing volleyball and slimming out. I decided to go out for the Cheerleading team…. which I think was a huge self-esteem booster!

I have always loved food… so luckily I never struggled with eating disorders. I would go on healthy eating kicks, but I’ve always been the type that gets HANGRY without food… hahah

This past summer was the first time I ever wore a bikini and felt confident. Of course I didn’t have the flattest tummy… or biggest boobs… but I was so proud of how far I had come.

My fiance has always made me feel so confident about myself. It was his constant reassurance, “Babe you look amazing”, that gave me so much confidence.

But how did I go from the girl who would only wear tankini’s to a woman who is confident when wearing a bikini??

  1. My diet….Less Dairy – About 2 years ago, I realized that dairy products were making me super bloated. It made me feel like my tummy was never flat. Does anyone know what I’m talking about?! I switched to eating whole foods only…. and wow what a difference!!
  2. Dressing To Impress…. Me – It doesn’t matter what my fiance says….. or what my mom thinks. If I don’t feel good in it… I don’t buy it. I have found it so important to buy clothes that fit and feel good to me. When I look in the mirror and love what I see… I have more confidence!
  3. Hair & Make-Up – I don’t spend hours getting ready in the morning… but taking 10 minutes to fill in my eyebrows, put on some mascara, and straighten my hair, makes me feel like I care enough about myself to be confident!
  4. Walking – Last summer I fell in love with walking… it’s such a stress reliever. Not only that, but just a half hour a day is great exercise!

Finding ways that help us feel confident and beautiful is so important. God created each of us to be beautiful in His eyes. We need to see that…. feel that… and be that!
